New patient visits are 60-75 minutes long. We will begin with a spacious discussion of what brings you in as well as a thorough review of your medical history. Then we will move to the exam table where I will conduct an osteopathic physical exam and provide gentle osteopathic treatment. As we conclude I will share my impressions and we will make a plan for future visits. I routinely provide exercise and lifestyle recommendations, as well as referrals to other practitioners as needed/appropriate.
Typically I will recommend a follow up visit within 1–2 weeks of your initial visit. Please plan for 30–45 minutes for each follow up visit. When scheduling your initial visit I recommend also scheduling follow up visits for one and two weeks after your initial visit. This allows me to reserve time in my schedule for you to be seen, and if we decide that the appointment is not needed we can cancel it. Depending on the complexity of your situation and treatment response, we will together decide how frequently you need to be seen. Many of my patients are seen more frequently initially (weekly x 2–4 visits, for example), and then we begin spacing visits to be more intermittent (every 4–6 weeks, for example) as their conditions stabilize.
